Norwegian Folk Art

Something I particularly liked in the National Gallery in Oslo, was the illustrations and sketches for traditional Norwegian folk stories. Many of which were by Theodor Kittelsen.

Two postcards that I purchased in the shop.

I would like to tell you the name of this illustration but there is a lot of Norwegian
text on the back of the postcard and I'm not sure which is the title. Besides, I think this
is from a large series of sketches for a particular folktale.

This one however, is called Skogtroll - which means forest troll!

I also have a postcard by Harald Sohlberg, as I liked the trees.

NORWAY: VI

THURSDAY

This day we went to Oslo, but first we saw a moose!

Then we drove to Oslo.

Tram.

Went to a Andy Warhol exhibition at this museum.

Police horse, marching band and "castle" guards.

We had a nice walk through this park and then went to the National Gallery where I learnt a lot about Norwegian art. I particularly liked the illustrations for Norwegian folktales. I bought a few postcards of these so I will blog about them separately - and find some more images.

Anyway, the next day (Friday) was spent chilling, buying Norwegian food to take home and reading. So there aren't any photographs. Here's two from the train journey on Saturday to the airport.
